Join this hands-on encaustic painting class where you'll begin by creating texture and patterns with plaster, stencils, and watercolor, setting the stage for encaustic work. This process allows you to build a rich foundation before layering the wax, giving you the freedom to explore composition and color without the pressure of working directly with encaustic from the start.
The combination of these materials allows for endless creative possibilities, as the wax can be manipulated and shaped to enhance the textures you’ve already created. This class encourages you to follow your intuition, letting each layer evolve organically.
This class is perfect for artists of all levels—no experience is required. All materials are provided. Most students will leave class with one or two finished pieces to take home, along with new skills to continue exploring this exciting medium.
